Peter Huber

According to Orwell, machines and capitalism were the greatest threats to mankind, promoting and supporting totalitarian regimes. However, in reality, the free market and technology actually promote collaboration, protect individual freedoms, and encourage freedom of choice. The internet is a bustling city; don't worry about nosy neighbors. It is best not to live in the countryside if you want to spend some time alone. It's better to live in a crowded city so you can lose yourself in the anonymity of the crowds. In cities, you can act freely however you want; people are busy enough not to bother about your affairs. This is also true of the internet. Considering many people are online, you can browse without fear, knowing that you have the same level of privacy and anonymity as if you were walking the streets of New York.

O czym to jest?

In Orwell's Revenge (1994), Peter Huber presents a computer-generated response to the dystopian masterpiece of George Orwell, 1984, by referencing Orwell's own ideas and writings. Using this technique, Huber has created a totally different narrative, showing how the free market and technology have become forces for good in contrast to fears of totalitarianism.

"Freedom includes the freedom to be foolish, to be sick. Free choice includes the freedom to choose badly."

"The greenest possible strategy is to mine and to bury, to fly and to tunnel, to search high and low, where the life mostly isn't, and so to leave the edge, the space in the middle, living and green."

"Efficiency may curtail [energy] demand in the short term, for the specific task at hand. But its long-term impact is just the opposite."
