There exist five distinct communication styles referred to as "voices" which correspond to five particular character types: the nurturer, the creative, the guardian, the connector, and the pioneer. In group settings, be it a family or a company team, each unique voice should be allowed to express itself in order to achieve the best outcome. Everyone in the group should feel that their views are being considered. Challenge deep-rooted prejudices towards specific voices within your society. It's common knowledge that cultures have unique ways of doing things. However, we often fail to recognize this because it's so apparent, much like fish in water. As a result, particular voices that align with dominant cultural norms tend to have more influence than those that don't. For instance, in the US, where individualism is highly valued, pioneering voices are more likely to be heard. On the other hand, in Switzerland, a preference for order and effectiveness gives guardian voices an upper hand in the workplace. To ensure that certain voices aren't being marginalized, it's essential to step back and assess if ingrained biases are at play. Do your American guardians receive a fair chance to speak? Are Swiss pioneers being heard?
