Book summary
Najwa Zebian is a Lebanese author, poet, and educator. She moved to Canada to flee the 2006 Lebanon war and has since published several books and poems dealing with displacement, belonging, and identity. Her works include Mind Platter, The Nectar of Pain, and Sparks of Phoenix.
The journey through your inner sanctuary begins with the Self-care room, where you learn to treat yourself with the same compassion you offer others, cultivating self-love and recognizing your worth without relying on external validation. From there, you move to the Forgiveness room, a space to release negativity and embrace growth by focusing on your own healing rather than assigning blame. Next, the Surrender room teaches you to confront and process your emotions—both positive and negative—by facing reality and redefining what feels familiar. In the Empathy room, you learn to set boundaries, prioritize yourself, and curate who and what you allow into your life, including societal pressures. Finally, the Clarity room invites introspection, helping you peel back layers of guilt, confusion, or false narratives to uncover your authentic self. Each room builds upon the last, guiding you toward self-awareness, emotional balance, and inner peace.
