The origins of the Cold War can be traced back to the competing visions of the US and the Soviet Union for a new world order after the end of World War II. The conflict was rooted in concerns over national security as well as the geopolitical ambitions of both superpowers. It initially started in Europe and gradually spread throughout Southeast Asia and other parts of the world.
