Follow these seven habits to achieve lasting results:
Be proactive: You are naturally driven to contribute to the world around you, so don't waste your time just reacting to your events and circumstances. Instead, make your decisions and take responsibility for what happens to you.
Begin with an end in mind: Don't waste your life working without a plan, doing whatever comes your way. Then, to make your vision a reality, synchronize your actions with it.
Prioritizing your work means focusing on the things that matter most, i.e., the things that bring you closer to your vision of the future. Don't get distracted by urgent but ultimately unimportant tasks.
Think win-win: When interacting with others, don't try to get the most significant slice of the pie, but instead, find an acceptable and beneficial division to all parties. You'll still get your fair share and build strong positive relationships in the process.
Seek first to understand, then understand: When someone presents us with a problem, we often jump right to prescribing a solution. Avoid this mistake. First, let's listen to what the other person says before making recommendations.
Adopt the principle that many can far exceed the contribution of one. Doing so will enable you to accomplish things you otherwise would not be able to do.
Sharpen the saw: Work hard, but do not exhaust yourself. So that you can stay effective on a long-term basis and maintain a sustainable lifestyle that provides you with time for recovery and renewal.
"Until a person can say deeply and honestly, 'I am what I am today because of the choices I made yesterday,' that person cannot say, 'I choose otherwise.'"
"Treat a man as he is and he will remain as he is. Treat a man as he can and should be and he will become as he can and should be."
"To learn and not to do is really not to learn. To know and not to do is really not to know."
