Résumé du livre
Immanuel Kant was an eighteenth-century German philosopher who was one of the main thinkers of the Enlightenment. He was the central figure behind the philosophical movement that became known as German Idealism, which transformed Western philosophy and set in motion developments in the discipline that continue to this day. His main works are his three Critiques: the Critique of Pure Reason, the Critique of Practical Reason, and the Critique of Judgment.
The human mind actively shapes its experience and understanding of reality. To do so, it requires structures for organizing sense data, concepts, and judgments into a cohesive view of the world. Since these structures are internal and necessary for perception and comprehension, we cannot be certain if they accurately depict reality independent of our minds. This uncertainty raises the possibility that reality may differ significantly from our perception of it. As a result, metaphysical theories about reality remain speculative. It is advisable to focus on understanding the empirical realm through scientific methods and leave the metaphysical realm to religion.
