In 2009, Melanne Verveer was appointed the very first US Ambassador-At-Large for Global Women’s Issues. A co-founder of Seneca Women, she’s the executive director of Georgetown University’s Institute for Women, Peace and Security.
Having a sense of purpose is as crucial as finding joy. Everyone desires to do something significant that will improve the world. This applies to both men and women. Women also need time to discover their aspirations, whether it is becoming a successful leader, a politician, or a stay-at-home parent. Individuals who lack a sense of purpose never truly feel content; they may spend their lives pursuing something that doesn't truly matter to them. Pam Seagle, a former high-ranking marketing executive at Bank of America, discovered her purpose after a difficult journey. Following a miraculous escape from a plane crash, she completely transformed her life's direction. Instead of focusing on her own career, she devoted herself to aiding other women in advancing theirs. Currently, Seagle utilizes her expertise in the banking industry to mentor young female leaders aspiring for success in the business world. Once you find your purpose, you will naturally connect with others who share similar aspirations. Seagle did not start her mentoring project at Bank of America alone. She networked and held several meetings with fellow feminist activists until she gathered enough support to launch her project. Seagle collaborated with Anne Finucane, the global chief strategy and marketing officer, and her deputy, Rena DeSisto. Today, their Global Ambassadors Program empowers women worldwide, including those in Haiti, South Africa, and India. Once you have a clear goal in mind, you will naturally find a network of individuals who share your vision. Building a strong network is essential for achieving any meaningful objective.
