When you embrace vulnerability, you also embrace bravery and ingenuity. By relinquishing perfectionism and fear of failure, you gain the courage to better yourself and engage in challenging conversations with colleagues. In essence, to become a bold leader, you must acknowledge and harness all of your emotions.
Instead of numbing your emotions, take the time to explore them. Often, when faced with vulnerability, our initial reaction is to find ways to suppress it. Whether it's through alcohol, food, or shopping, we attempt to distract ourselves.
However, before reaching for that glass of wine or pint of ice cream, pause and ask yourself what you're truly feeling and why. Once you've identified the root cause, you can determine what will truly bring you comfort and relief.
“Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.”
“Shame, blame, disrespect, betrayal, and the withholding of affection damage the roots from which love grows. Love can only survive these injuries if they are acknowledged, healed and rare.”
“Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen.”
